Mental Health 101

Have you heard of the idea that your being is like a clear blue sky, and that your feelings and sensations, no matter how strong they are, are not you (or rather, not the you that you that you have strived to create over time)- that they are actually like clouds passing through the sky, but not the sky itself?

What this means is that even if you sometimes experience unpleasant feelings or sensations, that they tend to usually change over time, and are almost always guaranteed to change within a few days, and most likely just a few hours.

How can this be applied in practice? It means that if you feel particularly unpleasant for whatever reason, it’s a good idea to both distract yourself with other things until the feeling passes, while at the same time, searching for ethical and safe ways to get away from the cause (or stop it, if it is unethical).

However, this is only part of the solution.
